They will also list websites that offer the online tax preparation service for free. This is really valuable, because it can save you a lot of money. Keep in mind, though, that only means that the online service is free. It doesn't count the act of actually filing the taxes. Most websites will file your federal tax returns for free and charge you for the state return.
